Never shave a collie x husky… thinking it will help with the moulting issue… it doesn’t, just makes the easier to pick up long hair into smaller bits that blows into every crevice known go man with the slightest puff of wind.
What kind of pooch is hunter?
I grew up in the tropics however I now reside in Coastal Carolina where it can get quite hot… I’ve been shearing my double-coated Australian cattle dogs in summer for years but my girlfriend recently said many sources online say it’s harmful… this sounds like a giant load of horse crap to me because my animals look fantastic and their athletic performance and cool down is radically improved in extreme heat the moment I take their hair off. If you brush them vigorously for a few days before you get out the Clippers it comes off pretty easy.
Is it ok to use clippers to shorten the top coat a little? I’ve given my terrier mix a few clean up hair cuts. I still leave a solid 2-3 inches of hair, I’ve mostly just cut her mane down so that it is the same length as the rest of her hair. It’s grown back the same each time. I would take her to the groomers, but she’s a rescue and is terrified when I’m not there. I’ve always worried that she would be the type of dog to stress itself to death at the groomers.
